Hawk Circle is a strange piece, the main part of which is a little more than a drone. It is a nearly blank canvas for musicians to play on. Samite has told me that as a child in Uganda he was taught to be afraid of two things: snakes and puddles. I still don't get the part about the puddles. In this version of Hawk Circle, Samite is asking the hawks to protect his village from snakes, the hawks having apparently little power over puddles.
