With roots reaching back to the days in which its founder and visionary, Will Ackerman, began selling copies of his own music out of the back of his van, Windham Hill invokes a new generation of listeners, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit with which to live by. The subtle migrations and ambient moods of Ackerman's definitive style make his music the ideal departure point for this quiet flight, called PURE Will Ackerman.

PURE Will Ackerman is a specially chosen catalog of works by this Grammy ® Award-winning artist and founder of the Windham Hill label. His expert solos, intricate arrangements, and organic rhythms speak to what is at the heart of his music - a holistic connection in everything, from each individual note played to the overarching journey.

Ackerman, whose career began in 1975 when he recorded his first album IN SEARCH OF THE TURTLE'S NAVEL, has become synonymous with Windham Hill label - not only because of his role as its founder but because of the emotional and spiritual connection listeners inevitably feel in relation to his music.

I recorded my first record for about $ 300 in 1975, creating Windham Hill Records in the process. I’ve produced George Winston and Michael Hedges among many others.

I’ve toured in the US, Europe and Japan. I have a Grammy Award and 21 Gold and Platinum Records as a producer in the US and overseas. My studio is in Windham County, Vermont. It’s been a lot of fun. Still is. ... more

abendromen and its companion, indesterren, have special meaning for me because they helped me fall in love with Tom, the person, as well as Tom, the musician. Since then we've tied the knot and he's put out a slew of music, but I always come back to these albums. abendromen never felt heavy to me, even though I knew it was born out of a dark time. It felt like a wise old friend. I love that Tom decided to "reclaim" it from its painful genesis and give it a fresh shine. sarahjane28
